2nd Layer

Course: Design as Inquiry - Good Living + Mix Reality \ Topic: Material Oddities \ Ben Hooker \ Art Center \ Media Design Program \ Spring 2011

2nd Layer is a project expanded through exploring materials and patterns used for augmented reality. I am proposing the idea of all material tangible surface in the future are embeded with augmentable projection code. So when a person have upgraded eye implants for virtual interface mode or wear cheaper eye glasses to allow a person to see all augmented information. The idea of surfaces projecting texture or footage through AR creates many possibilities such as store and hide secrets in another layer within the software.

This short film trailer also raises the question when technology glitches, how do they look like?

The video below is an example of how the augmentation may appear after switching on the eye implant to AR mode. Best viewed with a blue and red 3D glasses.
